This scholarship honors fellow potters Frank Gaudot and Kevin Finegan. Frank was an integral part of the San Antonio potters’ scene, a charter member of the SAPG, and supporter of the ceramics program at the Southwest School of Art (SSA). Kevin was also an active member of the Guild and much-loved leader of the potters’ community. This scholarship is to support class tuition and/or supplies for clay artists needing support to attend any ceramic department programs at any other community college or university ceramic program.
At least once a year, funds permitting, the SAPG will award full or partial scholarships for tuition and/or supplies to a talented, highly motivated individual.
Selection will be made by the Scholarship & Award Committee and/or the chair of the department into which the recipient will enroll. Applicants will be judged on an application and an essay outlining the need for the award.
Scholarship monies will be paid to the attending institution. These attending institutions may include the SSA Ceramics Department program, a community college or university program, or local ceramics teaching studio program. Recipients will be required, at the conclusion of the class, to give a presentation at an upcoming general meeting on the semester’s activities. Individuals can receive only one scholarship every 2 years.
Application must include:
1. Formal application
2. Essay detailing need or other pertinent information (less than 250 words)
3. Resume and letter of recommendation from department head.
